Teaching Assistant - Immediate Start
SEND Teaching Assistant (SEN / SEMH / ASD Support) - Haywards Heath
- Location: Haywards Heath, West Sussex (Mainstream & Specialist Schools)
- Pay: £90-£110 per day (dependent on experience)
- Hours: 08:45am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
- Contract: Temporary, Long-Term and Permanent Opportunities Available
- Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or Care Assistant, NextGen Teachers are looking to recruit dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a range of mainstream and specialist schools in Haywards Heath.

The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across primary and secondary age groups with a range of needs, including Autism (ASD/ASC), SEMH, and complex learning difficulties.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
- Supporting pupils with SEN, SEND, and additional needs
- Helping to create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and social development
- Working closely with teachers and SENCOs to support individual learning plans
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Passionate about working with children with SEN, SEND, SEMH, or ASD
- Calm, patient, and resilient with a nurturing approach
- Confident in managing behaviour and supporting de-escalation
- Experienced in a school, care, or support setting (preferred)
- Familiar with or willing to learn about EHCPs, safeguarding, and behaviour strategies
