SEN Support Practitioner

Location: Wakefield
Contract: Full-time, term time only (temp to perm)
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: From £92.60 per day
Start: ASAP

NextGen Teachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wakefield to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team and play a key role in helping pupils with additional needs thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to learners with SEN
  • Adapt learning activities to meet specific needs
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging lessons
  • Assist with small group interventions when required
  • Liaise with SENCOs, parents, and external professionals

You will have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Flexibility and a proactive mindset
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
  • GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in English, Maths, and Science
  • Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable)
