We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of English to join a high-performing and supportive department. You will teach English at GCSE and potentially at A Level, contributing to a subject area known for strong outcomes and high student engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons that meet the needs of all learners
• Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, using data to inform teaching
• Set high expectations for achievement, behaviour, and conduct
• Contribute to curriculum development and departmental resources
• Support students' academic and personal development, including as a form tutor
• Lead or support extracurricular activities such as reading clubs or writing workshops
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community
• Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, and school policies

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• A degree in English or a related subject, and a recognised teaching qualification
• Strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach KS4-KS5 (KS3 desirable)
• A proven ability (or clear potential) to inspire a love of reading and writing
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Confidence in using ICT to enhance teaching and learning
• A commitment to high standards and continuous improvement
• Energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for English
• A willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities and wider school life
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
