Salary: £92 - £95 (depending on experience)
NextGen Teachers are excited to be recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Leeds. This is a full-time, term-time, temp-to-perm opportunity, supporting pupils aged 4-18 with a range of complex SEN, with a strong focus on developing speech, language, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality support to pupils with complex SEN needs, with a focus on developing speech, language, and communication skills alongside personal care where required
- Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access learning, develop communication, and achieve individual targets
- Assist pupils with daily routines and activities, supporting independence while ensuring dignity, safety, and well-being
- Promote emotional well-being by building positive relationships, supporting social interaction, behaviour regulation, and confidence in communication
- Work collaboratively with teachers, speech and language therapists, and SEN staff to implement individual SLCN support plans effectively
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that encourages engagement, participation, and communication development
What we're looking for:
- Experience or a strong willingness to provide high-quality personal care to pupils with complex SEN needs, including severe learning difficulties, medical needs, physical disabilities, and autism
- Ability to deliver tailored 1:1 support and assist small groups, with a focus on individual care, communication, and development
- Confidence in supporting daily routines such as personal care, mobility, feeding, and medical needs, while maintaining dignity and respect
- A caring and patient approach to promoting emotional well-being, supporting behaviour, and building positive, trusting relationships
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and SEN staff
- Commitment to creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that supports pupils' well-being, comfort, and engagement
