SEND Teaching Assistant (Immediate Start)

Pay: £90-£95 per day (PAYE)
Location: Haywards Heath
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 4:00pm (term time only)
Contract: 12-week temporary-to-permanent position ( following a successful trial day )

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Haywards Heath, with an immediate start available. This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and resilient individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional and complex needs in a structured, supportive environment.In this role, you will work with both Primary and Secondary pupils in small class settings. Students have a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The position requires patience, adaptability, and the ability to support positive behaviour and emotional regulation.

The Role

  • Provide consistent classroom support within small, well-supported groups
  • Deliver tailored 1:1 support and lead small group interventions
  • Encourage positive behaviour and support students in managing emotions
  • Work alongside the class teacher to adapt lessons and learning activities
  • Help maintain a calm, safe, and structured learning environment
  • Build strong relationships to support student confidence and independence

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience with, or a strong interest in, working with SEND/SEMH students
  • Comes from a background in education, care, youth work, or a similar field
  • Stays calm under pressure and handles behavioural challenges effectively
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates confidently
  • Is reliable, proactive, and available to start immediately
