NextGen Teachers are currently working with a SEN school based in Leeds who are a specialist setting supporting children and young people aged 2-19 with a wide range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties, autism, physical disabilities, sensory impairments and communication needs.

This school is committed to developing the whole child, providing a secure, caring and supportive environment where pupils are encouraged to thrive academically, emotionally and physically. Learning is personalised and guided by each pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), ensuring every learner receives the support they need to reach their full potential.

About the Role
Our partnership school are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team as soon as possible, working within Pathway Two. This pathway supports learners with communication and interaction needs, many of whom require structured, personalised learning approaches and specialist communication strategies.

You will work closely with teachers and a multidisciplinary team to support pupils' learning, communication, independence and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide targeted support for pupils with communication and interaction needs, including those with autism and speech and language difficulties.

• Support the delivery of a personalised curriculum linked to pupils' EHCP outcomes.

• Use structured approaches, visual supports and alternative communication methods to support learning and engagement.

• Promote positive behaviour, independence and social communication.

• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

• Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly communication and interaction needs.

• A patient, compassionate and flexible approach to supporting learners with complex needs.

• The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• A commitment to inclusive education and supporting pupils to achieve their potential.
