PMLD Teaching Assistant - SEN School in Wakefield (WF7)

NextGen Teachers are currently working in partnership with a SEN school based in Wakefield (WF7) who are seeking to recruit an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support PMLD students and starting as soon as possible. This is a large specialist provision supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and this role will focus on secondary‑aged learners with the most complex needs.

You will work alongside teachers and our multidisciplinary team to support learners in accessing personalised experiences, developing communication and engagement, and enhancing well‑being and independence in a nurturing and specialist environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support secondary PMLD pupils with complex needs.

• Assist with delivering personalised programmes linked to EHCP outcomes.

• Use sensory, communication and engagement strategies to support learners.

• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and independence.

• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience supporting children or young people with PMLD/complex SEN.

• Is patient, flexible and confident working with significant needs.

• Works well in a team and is committed to inclusive specialist education.
