Senior SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Wakefield
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Age Group: 4-11 years
Start Date: September
Salary: £22000 - £25,000 (depending on experience)

We are looking for caring, patient, and enthusiastic Higher Level SEND Teaching Assistants who are passionate about helping every child reach their full potential. You'll be joining a warm and inclusive team, where high expectations, kindness, and a commitment to ensuring every pupil feels valued are at the heart of everything they do. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEND to access learning, providing tailored 1:1 and small group support and helping to implement individual plans such as EHCPs
  • Work in partnership with teachers to deliver adapted learning activities, promote engagement, and monitor pupils' progress
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, communication, and independence using consistent strategies
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive environment, including supporting with personal care where required and supervising pupils during less structured times
  • Work collaboratively with staff and external professionals, following safeguarding procedures in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education

What we're looking for:

  • Must have a Degree and experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant
  • A caring, patient and resilient individual with a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND
  • Experience working with children or young people with autism, learning difficulties, or communication needs
  • A positive, calm approach to behaviour support and emotional regulation
  • Good communication skills when working with pupils, colleagues, and families
  • A proactive attitude and ability to adapt to pupils' individual needs
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing
