Are you a passionate Teaching Assistant looking to support secondary-aged students within a specialist SEN setting?

NextGen Teachers are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming specialist SEN school in Leeds that supports secondary-aged learners with a range of additional needs. The school delivers a structured, curriculum-focused education, helping pupils to achieve academically while developing the confidence and life skills they need for the future.

We are looking to speak with dedicated Teaching Assistants who are available for either day-to-day supply work or full-time, long-term opportunities from September 2026. The school will be meeting suitable candidates throughout September for interviews and trial days.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support secondary-aged pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs throughout the school day.

  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, structured and inclusive lessons across the curriculum.

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils achieve their individual learning targets.

  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet pupils' individual needs and learning styles.

  • Support students to develop their confidence, independence, communication and social skills.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and implement individual support strategies where appropriate.

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

  • Contribute to a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

About You

We're looking for candidates who:

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people in a school, care or specialist setting.

  • Have experience supporting pupils with additional needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, Down syndrome, speech and language needs or moderate learning difficulties.

  • Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).

  • Are patient, resilient and committed to helping every young person succeed.

  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Can build positive relationships while maintaining high expectations for learning and behaviour.

  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one.
