SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Huddersfield
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Start Date: September
Salary: £19500 - £21500 per annum (depending on experience)
NextGen Teachers have an exciting new role for SEN Teaching Assistants / 1:1 SEN Support for pupils aged from KS2 - KS4 (7 years to 16 years) with various needs such as; Autism, ADHD, Moderate Learning Needs, Social and Emotional Mental Health needs and Anxiety. This school offers a safe and supportive environment for young people and a wonderful school to progress within.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated SEN support or 1:1 support, helping pupils access learning and engage fully in classroom activities
- Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development in line with individual needs and EHCP targets
- Adapt resources and learning approaches to promote independence, confidence, and progress
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider team to ensure consistent support and uphold safeguarding responsibilities
What we're looking for:
- Experience working with children with SEN, particularly Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or related needs
- A calm, patient, and consistent approach to supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Ability to adapt learning support to meet individual needs and encourage independence
- A team player who works effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
