SEN Teaching Assistant | Wakefield | Immediate Start
Location: Wakefield
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only - Temp to Perm
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Age Group: 11-19 years
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £92-£95 (depending on experience)
NextGen Teachers are seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Wakefield, supporting students aged 11-19 with complex needs.
This is a rewarding, full-time term-time role in a well-supported environment, ideal for those with education or care experience, with the opportunity to progress into a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students aged 11-19 with severe, complex, and profound SEN, both 1:1 and in small groups
- Assist with communication, sensory, and independence skills in line with EHCP targets
- Support personal care and physical needs where required
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
- Help deliver a personalised curriculum focused on life skills and independence
- Work closely with teachers and multi-disciplinary teams to support pupil progress
- Follow safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times
What we're looking for:
- Experience supporting children or young people with complex SEN (desirable)
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
- Willingness to support personal care and physical needs
- Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
- Passion for supporting independence and life skills development
- Flexible, reliable, and proactive attitude
