Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Age Group: 11-19 years

Salary: £92-£95 (depending on experience)

NextGen Teachers are seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Wakefield, supporting students aged 11-19 with complex needs.

This is a rewarding, full-time term-time role in a well-supported environment, ideal for those with education or care experience, with the opportunity to progress into a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support students aged 11-19 with severe, complex, and profound SEN, both 1:1 and in small groups
• Assist with communication, sensory, and independence skills in line with EHCP targets
• Support personal care and physical needs where required
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
• Help deliver a personalised curriculum focused on life skills and independence
• Work closely with teachers and multi-disciplinary teams to support pupil progress
• Follow safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times

• Experience supporting children or young people with complex SEN (desirable)
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
• Willingness to support personal care and physical needs
• Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
• Passion for supporting independence and life skills development
• Flexible, reliable, and proactive attitude
