About the Role

NextGen Teachers are proud to be working in partnership with one of Leeds' most inspirational specialist SEN schools - a place where every child is celebrated, every achievement matters, and every day brings the chance to make a lasting difference.

This remarkable school is dedicated to transforming the lives of children with additional needs, providing a nurturing, forward-thinking environment where learning is tailored to the individual. Each pupil's journey is guided by their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), ensuring that support is deeply personalised and meaningful.

As a valued member of this passionate, multidisciplinary team, you'll be at the heart of life-changing progress - helping each learner to grow in confidence, independence, and self-belief. Your empathy, creativity, and commitment will have a profound impact on their academic, social, and emotional development.

The school's innovative pathway-based curriculum is designed to celebrate every learner's unique strengths, interests, and aspirations. This highly individualised approach focuses on engagement, emotional regulation, physical development, communication, and wellbeing - helping each child to flourish in their own way.

They are now seeking exceptional Specialist Support Assistants to join their dedicated team, working with primary-aged pupils. This is an extraordinary opportunity for someone who believes in the power of education to change lives and who wants to be part of a team that truly goes above and beyond for its learners.

  • Deliver engaging, multi-sensory learning experiences that incorporate touch, sound, light, movement, and smell
  • Collaborate effectively within a dedicated team that upholds a high staff-to-learner ratio
  • Implement a range of communication strategies, including Makaton, communication books, and visual supports
  • Provide compassionate personal care, ensuring learners' comfort, dignity, and wellbeing
  • Assist learners with regular positional changes throughout the day to promote physical comfort and mobility development

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with learners who have complex SEN needs
  • Experience providing personal care
  • Patience, empathy, and effective positive behaviour management skills
  • Willingness to support offsite educational experiences
  • A genuine passion for helping learners achieve their potential
  • Understanding of safeguarding practices and accurate record-keeping
  • Team Teach trained (or willingness to complete training)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Minimum of Grade C/4 in GCSE English, Maths, and Science

If you meet the above requirements and are eager to contribute to the safe, happy environment that supports the learning of every student, please email your CV to charlotte@nextgenteachers.co.uk, or apply directly to this advert.
