Location: Leeds
Contract: Temporary to permanent (term time only). Monday to Friday (8:30-3:30)
Start date: ASAP
Salary: £90 - £95 per day (dependant on experience)

The school's pathway-based learning model offers a highly individualised curriculum that celebrates each learner's unique strengths, abilities, and aspirations.
They are now seeking Specialist Support Assistants to join their committed team, working with primary-aged pupils. In this rewarding role, you'll engage learners through a multi-sensory, non-subject-specific curriculum designed to promote engagement, emotional regulation, physical development, and an enhanced quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Support learners with complex needs, including those with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
- Deliver engaging, multi-sensory learning experiences that incorporate touch, sound, light, movement, and smell
- Collaborate effectively within a dedicated team that upholds a high staff-to-learner ratio
- Implement a range of communication strategies, including Makaton, communication books, and visual supports
- Provide compassionate personal care, ensuring learners' comfort, dignity, and wellbeing
- Assist learners with regular positional changes throughout the day to promote physical comfort and mobility development
Requirements
- Previous experience working with learners who have complex SEN needs
- Experience providing personal care
- Patience, empathy, and effective positive behaviour management skills
- Willingness to support offsite educational experiences
- A genuine passion for helping learners achieve their potential
- Understanding of safeguarding practices and accurate record-keeping
- Team Teach trained (or willingness to complete training)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Minimum of Grade C/4 in GCSE English, Maths, and Science
