SEN Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs
Leeds | Full-Time | Temporary to Permanent | September Start
NextGen Teachers are recruiting a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Leeds from September.
This is a full-time, temporary-to-permanent position supporting children and young people with significant and complex SEND, including physical disabilities, complex medical needs, severe learning difficulties and non-verbal communication needs.
The Role
You will work closely with teachers and other support professionals to provide individualised support to pupils throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Supporting pupils with complex physical and medical needs
- Working with non-verbal pupils and supporting alternative communication methods
- Supporting sensory-based and personalised learning activities
- Helping pupils develop communication, independence and life skills
- Providing personal care support where required
- Working alongside teachers, therapists and other specialist professionals
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Is comfortable working with pupils who have complex needs
- Is patient, caring, resilient and reliable
- Is confident supporting personal care where required
- Can commit to a full-time position from September
- Is interested in securing a long-term role with the opportunity to become permanent
Experience within a specialist SEN school is beneficial, but candidates with relevant care, support work, healthcare or complex-needs experience are also encouraged to apply.
