Contract: Full-Time, Term-Time Only - Temporary to Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £18,000 - £19,500 (depending on experience)
About the Role
NextGen Teachers are delighted to be supporting a specialist education setting in Leeds, who are looking for a dedicated Educarer Teaching Assistant to join their supportive and inclusive team.

The Role
As an Educarer Teaching Assistant, you will provide a combination of educational, personal and medical support, working closely with teaching staff, NHS nursing teams, therapists and other professionals.
Your responsibilities may include:
Supporting learners with complex medical needs and implementing individual care plans.
Administering and supporting daily medical interventions following appropriate training.
Providing emergency medical support when required.
Supporting learners with personal care, hygiene, toileting, feeding and drinking.
Supporting learners with physical needs, including mobility, wheelchair use and manual handling.
Assisting with physiotherapy and other specialist programmes under professional guidance.
Supporting learners with communication needs, including the use of Makaton, BSL or other communication systems, where required and following training.
Supporting learners with speech and communication difficulties under the guidance of Speech and Language Therapists.
Supporting learners' emotional, social and educational development.
Helping learners develop independence, confidence and self-reliance.
Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
Working collaboratively with teachers, NHS nursing teams, therapists, parents and other professionals.
Maintaining accurate and confidential medical, care and learner records.
Supporting learners during lessons, break times, lunchtimes, trips and other activities.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience working with children or young people with complex SEN, medical or physical needs.
Is comfortable supporting learners with personal care and intimate care.
Has a caring, patient and resilient approach.
Is confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Is willing to undertake specialist training relating to medical interventions, manual handling, communication and other learner needs.
Can follow detailed care plans and procedures accurately.
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
Has GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English, Maths and Science (or equivalent).
- Level 2 Teaching Assistant Qualification
Relevant SEN, medical, care, healthcare or school-based experience is highly desirable. Full training will be provided for specific specialist interventions where required.
