About the School

NextGen Teachers are currently supporting a specialist provision dedicated to supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The school provides a nurturing, structured and trauma-informed environment where pupils are supported to re-engage with learning, develop confidence, and achieve meaningful qualifications.

The role

We are seeking to recruit a resilient Science Teacher to join the team from September 2026. This is a full-time, permanent position working primarily with students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering Science up to GCSE level.

You will be teaching learners with SEMH and ASD profiles, adapting your approach to meet a wide range of learning, emotional, and behavioural needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students re-engage with education and achieve recognised qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE Science
  • Differentiate learning to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH and ASD
  • Create a safe, structured and positive classroom environment
  • Use trauma-informed and restorative approaches to behaviour and relationship building
  • Track and assess student progress, ensuring high expectations for achievement
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral staff, therapists, and support teams
  • Contribute to wider school development and enrichment opportunities

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with experience in Science
  • Confident teaching GCSE Science content
  • Experienced (or highly interested) in working with SEMH and/or ASD learners
  • Calm, resilient, and able to build strong, trusting relationships with young people
  • Skilled in behaviour management within a specialist or alternative provision setting
  • Passionate about making Science accessible, engaging, and meaningful for all learners
  • Committed to inclusive education and positive outcomes for vulnerable students
