We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEND school in Wakefield that supports children and young people with a range of complex learning needs, including Autism, communication and interaction difficulties, sensory needs, and associated learning challenges.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated teacher to join a highly supportive team committed to helping every pupil achieve their full potential. With small class sizes, excellent staffing ratios, and a child-centred approach, the school provides a nurturing environment where pupils can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs
  • Create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support pupils with a range of SEND needs to achieve their personalised outcomes
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, families, and external professionals
  • Promote independence, communication, and emotional wellbeing
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and its supportive ethos

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Previous teaching experience within a Primary, SEND, or specialist setting
  • Strong understanding of Autism and additional learning needs
  • Skilled in adapting learning to meet individual pupil requirements
  • Patient, resilient, and committed to inclusive education
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
