SEMH Science Teacher (GCSE)
Location: NG11, Nottinghamshire
Contract: Full-Time or Part-Time (3 or 4 days per week), Term-Time Only
Salary: £28,000 - £39,500 per year

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH school in NG11 for an experienced Science Teacher who is passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher with the ability to teach Science to GCSE level in a supportive and rewarding specialist setting. The school is flexible and will consider candidates seeking either full-time or part-time (3 or 4 days per week).

The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons to students working towards GCSE qualifications
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the individual learning needs of pupils with SEMH needs
  • Create a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes engagement and achievement
  • Support students' academic, social, and emotional development
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies and build positive relationships with pupils
  • Monitor, assess, and track student progress, adapting teaching where required
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, carers, and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for students
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and promote a positive learning culture

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching Science to GCSE level
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs, SEND, alternative provision, or other challenging educational settings is highly desirable
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with young people
  • A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to teaching
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

  • ECTs will not be considered for this position.
  • Unfortunately, candidates requiring visa sponsorship are not eligible for this role.
