NextGen Teachers are supporting a specialist SEN school in Leeds with the recruitment of an Additional Needs Support Assistant to join their dedicated team on a permanent, full-time basis from September.
This welcoming and well-resourced specialist school provides education for pupils aged 4-16 with a range of additional needs. The school is committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to develop academically, socially, and emotionally, with personalised support tailored to their individual needs.

The Role
As an Additional Needs Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide tailored support for pupils throughout the school day. You will help pupils access learning, develop confidence, promote independence, and achieve their individual goals in a safe and supportive environment.
No two days are the same, making this a varied and rewarding role where you will make a genuine difference to the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging, personalised learning activities.
- Encourage positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
- Support pupils with communication, independence, and daily routines where required.
- Help implement individual learning and behaviour support plans.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for every learner.
- Promote safeguarding, inclusion, and equal opportunities at all times.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, SEND, care, youth work, or a similar support setting.
- Is patient, caring, resilient, and enthusiastic.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can build positive relationships with children who have a range of additional needs.
- Is proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Is committed to supporting every child to reach their full potential.
- Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant or Support qualification (desirable but not essential).
