Contract: Temporary to Permanent, Term-Time Only
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Pay: £90-£95 per day (dependent on experience)

About the Role

NextGen Teachers is working in partnership with a mainstream primary school in Leeds that has a dedicated on-site SEN provision. We are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils with a range of additional and complex needs within a supportive, inclusive school environment. This role focuses on personalised support, engagement, and promoting pupil wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support primary-aged pupils within the school's on-site SEN provision
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support based on individual needs
  • Assist with personal care, mobility, and emotional regulation where required
  • Support the delivery of inclusive and engaging learning activities, including sensory-based support
  • Use communication strategies such as Makaton, visual aids, and communication books
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff
  • Support pupils' inclusion within the wider school where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to safeguarding procedures

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a school or care setting
  • Experience providing personal care (desirable)
  • Patient, caring, and confident in supporting behaviour and emotional needs
  • Understanding of safeguarding and record-keeping
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English, Maths, and Science
