The Role

As a Primary SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Plan, deliver and assess engaging, personalised lessons tailored to pupils' individual needs and abilities.
  • Adapt teaching strategies, resources and activities to support children with a range of SEN and complex needs.
  • Develop personalised learning programmes that promote progress, independence and confidence.
  • Use creative and practical teaching approaches to engage primary-aged pupils in their learning.
  • Create a structured, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress and adapt teaching in response to individual needs.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and understand their individual strengths, interests and barriers to learning.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider school team to provide consistent support.
  • Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals where appropriate.
  • Support pupils' academic, social, emotional and personal development.
  • Maintain high expectations while providing appropriate levels of support and encouragement.

What We're Looking For

We would love to hear from teachers who:

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Have experience teaching primary-aged pupils.
  • Have experience working within an SEN or specialist school - desirable.
  • Have experience supporting pupils with complex additional needs - desirable.
  • Are passionate about improving outcomes for children with SEN.
  • Can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Have strong classroom management and behaviour-support skills.
  • Can adapt teaching to meet a wide range of individual needs.
  • Are patient, compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic.
  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative school team.
  • Are committed to creating an engaging, inclusive and ambitious learning environment.
