NextGen Teachers are working with a specialist SEND school in Reigate supporting children aged 2-11 with complex additional needs. The school is looking for caring, patient and reliable people to join their team as Specialist SEND Teaching Assistants.

You don't need to have worked in a specialist school before. If you have experience in care, healthcare, childcare, education, support work or youth work, you'll be considered, with full training provided.

What you'll be doing

Every day will be different, but you'll be helping pupils to feel safe, included and able to engage with their learning.

Your role will involve:

• Supporting children 1:1 and in small groups
• Helping pupils access lessons, activities and the wider school day
• Supporting children with Autism, severe learning difficulties and complex needs
• Encouraging communication, independence and social development
• Helping children manage emotions and regulate throughout the day
• Supporting personal care and medical needs where required
• Building trusting relationships with pupils and celebrating their progress
• Working alongside teachers, therapists and other specialist staff

The school supports children with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), severe learning difficulties, complex medical needs and additional care requirements.

Your experience could come from many different places

This role could suit someone already working as a:

• SEND / SEN Teaching Assistant
• Learning Support Assistant
• Support Worker
• Children's or Residential Support Worker
• Care or Healthcare Assistant
• Nursery Practitioner
• Childcare Worker
• Youth Worker
• Healthcare or medical professional

SEND experience is preferred but isn't essential. What's most important is that you're patient, compassionate, dependable and genuinely interested in helping children develop.

Experience supporting people with complex care or medical needs would also be particularly valuable.

New to specialist SEND?

That's absolutely fine.

You'll receive full induction and ongoing training, so you won't be expected to walk into the classroom knowing everything. You'll work alongside experienced staff and have the opportunity to develop practical skills in supporting children with complex learning, communication, care and medical needs.

• Salary: £17,067 per annum (£24,420 FTE)
• Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-3:30pm
• Additional hours: 8:30am start one morning per week for a staff meeting
• Contract: Full-time, term time only
• Location: Reigate, Surrey
• Age range: 2-11 years
• Training: Full induction and ongoing CPD
