We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with complex SEMH needs. In this role, you'll go beyond classroom support by building trusting relationships, delivering tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions, and working closely with colleagues to create a nurturing, inclusive, and empowering environment where every student can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion participation and inclusion across all areas of school life
- Lead a range of engaging games, activities, and sessions tailored to meet the diverse needs of pupils and the school
- Provide support for children who may find it difficult to access learning within their classroom environment
- Collaborate with teachers and instructors to design and deliver activities, courses, campaigns, and events that promote active participation among children and young people
- Take the lead in delivering planned activities that align with the specific needs and abilities of individuals and groups
- Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils, responding sensitively to their individual needs
- Apply specialist knowledge and strategies to help maintain a calm, inclusive, and productive school environment
Essential Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with special education needs (SEN). specifically SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) needs
- Patience, empathy, and strong positive behaviour management skills
- A genuine passion for helping children reach their potential
- Understanding of safeguarding practices and accurate record-keeping procedures
- Access to own vehicle and full drivers licence
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
- Minimum Grade C/4 in English and Maths at GCSE
- A-Level or relevant L3 qualification or experience working at this level
