Inclusion Support Worker - Secondary School, Leeds

Location: Leeds (LS16)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: 1-year fixed term, with potential to become permanent
Salary: £95-£110 per day, depending on experience

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for an experienced and compassionate Inclusion Support Worker to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Leeds.

The school has a strong tradition of excellent pastoral care, underpinned by restorative practice. Visitors are consistently impressed by the calm, purposeful atmosphere throughout the school and its modern facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping students overcome barriers to learning. The successful candidate will work closely with students with complex communication needs and autism, providing consistent, nurturing and individualised support.

The Role:

As an Inclusion Support Worker, you will play a key role within the school's Inclusion Team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and engagement.
• Working with young people with autism and complex communication needs.
• Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging students to reflect on their choices.
• Supporting restorative conversations and helping to repair relationships.
• Staffing the school's Reflection Room.
• Supporting students within the school's onsite Alternative Provision.
• Providing calm and consistent support to students experiencing emotional dysregulation.
• Helping students successfully reintegrate into learning following periods of difficulty.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with students and encouraging their confidence and independence.

About You:

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience working with young people in a school, education or support setting.
• Experience supporting children or young people with autism and/or additional needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• The resilience to support students experiencing challenging emotions or behaviour.
• An understanding of restorative approaches and positive behaviour support.
• A genuine commitment to inclusion and helping every student achieve their potential.
