Location: Leeds
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

NextGen Teachers are currently working in partnership with a specialist setting within a Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre that is dedicated to providing high-quality education for children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We are currently seeking compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join the school, supporting pupils with complex physical and medical needs.

About the Role

As a Complex Care Teaching Assistant, you will work under the guidance of class teachers and therapists to provide personalised learning support for pupils aged 2-19. You will play a vital role in promoting independence, communication, and well-being, ensuring every child can access learning in a safe and nurturing environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with physical disabilities and complex medical conditions in the classroom and during daily routines.

  • Assisting with personal care, mobility, and medical interventions (training provided).

  • Helping deliver tailored learning activities, communication strategies, and therapeutic programmes.

  • Working closely with teachers, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and other professionals.

  • Promoting inclusion, engagement, and positive behaviour in line with the school's ethos and values.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Caring, empathetic, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with professionalism and flexibility.

  • Calm under pressure, with good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willing to undertake relevant training (e.g. manual handling, medical procedures).

  • Previous experience in a special school or care environment is desirable but not essential-what matters most is your attitude and commitment.

If this seems like the perfect role for you, please apply directly to the advert and one of our NextGen Teachers Team will be in touch.
