About the Role
NextGen Teachers are proud to partner with a network of Specialist SEN (Special Educational Needs) schools across Leeds, who are seeking experienced and dedicated professionals to join their teams.
Each learner with additional needs has an individualised set of targets outlined in their Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP). These goals guide their educational journey, supporting their access to learning and helping them achieve the best possible outcomes. Working within a SEN setting means your contribution directly shapes learners' progress, wellbeing, and development. Your expertise, compassion, and commitment will truly make a difference every day.
These schools follow a pathway-based learning model, ensuring that each learner receives teaching strategies tailored to their unique abilities and needs.
They are currently seeking Specialist Support Assistants to work within a non-subject-specific curriculum that embraces a multi-sensory approach. This approach focuses on promoting learners' health and wellbeing, sensory engagement, emotional regulation, independence, and overall quality of life.

- Support learners who have complex needs such as Profound and Multiple Learning disabilities (PLMD)
- Contribute to the multi-sensory approach by engaging learners in learning which focuses on touch, sound, light, movement and smell
- Work as part of a team where there may be a high staff to learner ratio

- Provide personal care for learners
- Support learners who require positional changes throughout the day to promote physical/mobility development

- Previous experience of working with learners who have complex SEN needs
- Previous experience of providing personal care
- Patience, empathy, and strong positive behaviour management skills
- Willingness to contribute to offsite experiences
- A genuine passion for helping learners reach their potential
- Understanding of safeguarding practices and accurate record-keeping procedures
- Team Teach trained (or willingness to complete training)
- Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service or willingness to apply)
- Minimum Grade C/4 in GCSE English, Maths, and Science
