1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Huddersfield

Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: £92 - £95 per day (depending on experience)

NextGen Teachers are seeking a wonderful SEN Teaching Assistant for a 1:1 position with a year 5 pupil.

This rewarding 1:1 role involves providing tailored support to a Year 5 pupil with a range of additional needs, which may include Autism (ASD), ADHD, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, and communication or learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil, helping them access learning and engage fully in classroom activities
• Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development in line with individual needs and EHCP targets
• Adapt resources and learning approaches to promote independence, confidence, and progress
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider team to ensure consistent support and uphold safeguarding responsibilities

What we're looking for:

• Experience working with children with SEN, particularly Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or related needs
• A calm, patient, and consistent approach to supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
• Ability to adapt learning support to meet individual needs and encourage independence
• A team player who works effectively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
