Location: Burgess Hill, West Sussex
Pay: £100 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am-4:00pm (5:00pm finish on Tuesdays)
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only, 12-Week Temp to Perm
Start Date: September 2026

NextGen Teachers are working with a welcoming, well-resourced specialist SEND school in Burgess Hill looking for a caring, patient SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. Roles available across primary, secondary and college-aged pupils.

You'll be joining an experienced, supportive team where pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, communication and sensory needs, and complex learning difficulties receive personalised support in a calm, structured environment.

Perfect for: Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Support Workers, Care Assistants, Healthcare Assistants, Youth Workers, Nursery Practitioners, or anyone with transferable experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals - school experience isn't essential.

What You'll Be Doing

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access learning
• Supporting children with Autism, ADHD, SEND and complex learning needs
• Encouraging communication, independence, and social development
• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Building trusting, positive relationships with pupils
• Helping create a calm, safe, engaging classroom environment
• Working alongside teachers, therapists, and specialist support staff
• Helping pupils work toward their individual targets and goals
• Providing personal care for some students dependant on needs - Full Training provided

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with children/young people in education, care, healthcare, or support settings (SEND, Autism, ADHD or SEMH experience desirable, not essential)
• Patient, calm, and compassionate
• Reliable, resilient, and a confident communicator
• Genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs
• Keen to build a long-term career in specialist education
