Teaching Assistant - SEN School (SEMH & Behaviour Support) / No Experience? Full Training Given
Location: East Grinstead, West Sussex
Salary: £22,746 - £23,980 per annum (dependent on qualifications & experience)
Contract: 12-Week Temp to Perm, Full-Time, Term Time Only (36 weeks/year)
Hours: Monday to Friday
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026

We're hiring caring, resilient Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEN school supporting young people with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASC), and communication difficulties across Key Stage 3 and 4.
Small classes (5-6 pupils), a genuinely therapeutic environment, and a team that will back you every step of the way - this is a role where you'll see the impact of your work firsthand.
Perfect for: Teaching Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, Support Workers, Care Workers, Youth Workers, Psychology graduates, or anyone with experience supporting young people who want a long-term career in education.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups across subjects and activities
- Helping pupils regulate emotions and build positive behaviour strategies
- Building trusted, consistent relationships with students
- Creating a calm, safe, structured space to learn
- Supporting pupils who display challenging behaviour or learning-related anxiety
- Encouraging confidence, resilience, and independence
- Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff, and therapists
What We're Looking For
- Experience with children/young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs (professional or personal)
- Background in teaching support, youth work, care, or pastoral roles
- Calm under pressure, emotionally intelligent, and a strong communicator
- A full UK driving licence (preferred/essential due to location)
- Level 3 TA qualification desirable - but not essential
