NextGen Teachers is working with a specialist PMLD school in East Grinstead that is looking for dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about SEN education who wants to make a meaningful impact on the lives of pupils with complex needs.

The Role

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalised support to pupils with a range of complex learning needs, helping them to develop their independence, communication and confidence.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs
• Providing 1:1 and small group support under the guidance of teaching staff
• Assisting with communication strategies and sensory-based learning activities
• Supporting pupils' personal care needs where required
• Encouraging independence, engagement and wellbeing
• Working closely with teachers, therapists and wider school staff to support individual learning plans

We're Looking For

We welcome applications from candidates with experience as:

• SEN Teaching Assistants
• Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)
• PMLD / Complex Needs Support Workers
• Care Assistants with experience supporting children or young people
• Healthcare Assistants
• Graduates looking to begin a career in SEN education

Previous experience supporting pupils with PMLD, SLD, Autism (ASC), physical disabilities or complex needs would be highly desirable, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.
