Location: Crawley, West Sussex
Pay: £100 per day
Contract: Part-Time | Temp-to-Perm (12 Weeks)
Days: Ideally Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (flexibility available)
Hours: 8:15am - 3:45pm (30-minute lunch break)
Start Date: ASAP

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Pastoral Support Worker with experience supporting students with Autism and anxiety?

We are recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a KS3 student within a Secondary setting in Crawley.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to provide consistent support to a bright and capable young person who experiences high levels of anxiety and requires a nurturing, relationship-based approach to learning.

The role will primarily be based within a specialist wellbeing and learning provision, supporting the student to engage with their education, manage anxiety, and build confidence both academically and socially.

The Role

You will work closely with teaching staff, SEN professionals, and pastoral teams to provide tailored support throughout the school day.

The student is academically able and capable of accessing learning but benefits from additional emotional support, structure, and reassurance to successfully engage in education.

This is a relationship-led role where patience, consistency, and emotional intelligence are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a KS3 Student with Autism (ASC) and anxiety
  • Supporting engagement with learning activities and academic tasks
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship to promote confidence and wellbeing
  • Supporting emotional regulation and anxiety management strategies
  • Helping the student access learning within a specialist support environment
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams
  • Monitoring progress, engagement, and wellbeing
  • Encouraging independence, resilience, and positive social interaction
  • Supporting transitions between activities and learning environments where required

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Support Worker, or Support Worker
  • Has experience supporting children or young people with Autism (ASC) and/or anxiety
  • Understands the importance of relationship-based and trauma-informed practice
  • Is calm, patient, and emotionally resilient
  • Can build trust and provide consistent support
  • Is confident supporting emotional wellbeing and engagement with learning
  • Works well as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
