Location: Halifax & Huddersfield
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: From £92.60 per day

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for compassionate and dedicated Secondary SEN Support staff to work within secondary schools across Halifax and Huddersfield.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role will involve working closely with students who require additional support to access learning, develop social and emotional skills, and achieve their full potential within the school environment.

The successful candidate may support students on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, or within the classroom setting, helping to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support for students with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties
  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small group interventions
  • Assist students in accessing learning across a range of subjects
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and personal development
  • Support the implementation of EHCP targets and individual support plans where required

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience supporting young people with SEN within a school or similar setting
  • Have a strong understanding of additional learning needs and inclusive practice
  • Be patient, resilient, and adaptable
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Be confident supporting students with varying levels of need
  • Work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • Have a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths
  • Previous SEN experience is highly desirable
  • Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, childcare, or SEN support are advantageous
