Location: Kirklees
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 3:30pm
Age Group: 11-18 years
Start Date: September
Salary: £92-£95 per day (depending on experience)

NextGen Teachers are on the lookout for a passionate and caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students with additional needs, helping them grow in confidence, engage in learning, and achieve their full potential every day.

To be considered, you'll need experience supporting SEN students and working with EHCPs within a secondary school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and families through excellent communication and people skills.
  • Stay calm, confident, and professional when handling challenging situations.
  • Provide a supportive and approachable experience in every interaction, always treating others with respect and understanding.
  • Work well as part of a team while also being confident to use your own initiative when needed.
  • Show professionalism, integrity, and a strong commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people at all times.

What we're looking for:

  • A motivated, enthusiastic, and engaging Teaching Assistant with a genuine passion for supporting students with SEND in a secondary school environment.
  • Experience working with children or young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, supporting both learning and pastoral care in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • A strong ability to work collaboratively with class teachers to support teaching, learning, and progress, while promoting inclusion and positive outcomes for all pupils.
  • A caring and proactive approach, focused on promoting independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion, while supporting individuals and small groups to access the curriculum and achieve success.
