Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant - Croydon (Temp-to-Perm)
Location: Croydon, South London
Pay: £95-£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm
Hours: Monday to Friday | Term Time Only

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Behaviour Support Worker looking for a rewarding role within a specialist SEN secondary school?
We are recruiting for a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive specialist school in Croydon that delivers an academic, GCSE-focused curriculum for pupils with additional learning needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who are passionate about education and want to support young people to achieve both academically and personally within a structured secondary setting.
The Role
As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support students across KS3 and KS4, helping them engage with learning, build confidence, and succeed within a classroom environment focused on academic progress.
The school supports pupils with a range of needs including:
- Autism (ASC / ASD)
- SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)
- ADHD
- Speech & Language needs
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students in lessons across GCSE and core curriculum subjects
- Providing 1:1 and small group intervention support
- Assisting with behaviour regulation and classroom engagement
- Supporting pupils with SEN / SEND to access learning effectively
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours
- Helping create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced as a Teaching Assistant, LSA, Behaviour Mentor, or Support Worker
- Interested in SEN, SEND, SEMH, or inclusive education
- Confident supporting secondary-aged students
- Calm, resilient, and proactive in their approach
- Passionate about helping young people achieve academically
- A strong communicator and team player
