SEND Teaching Assistant (SEN / SEND / ASD Support) - Burgess Hill
Location: Burgess Hill (Specialist Provision)
Pay: £90-£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: 08:45am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
Contract: Temp-to-Perm (12-week placement)
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Are you an experienced Support Worker, Care Assistant, or SEN Teaching Assistant looking to take the next step in education?
NextGen Teachers are recruiting a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Burgess Hill. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), complex needs, and communication difficulties.
This role is particularly well suited to candidates from care, support work, or healthcare backgrounds who are looking to transition into a school setting and build a long-term career in SEN / SEND.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across both primary and secondary age groups, helping them access learning in a structured, safe, and nurturing environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
- Supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), SEND, and complex needs
- Assisting with behaviour management and emotional regulation
- Creating a calm, safe, and structured learning environment
- Building positive relationships to support communication, confidence, and social development
- Working closely with teachers and support staff to adapt learning activities
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Experienced in working with children or young people (care, support work, healthcare, or education)
- Passionate about SEN, SEND, SEMH, or Autism support
- Calm, patient, and resilient in their approach
- Able to recognise behaviour triggers and support de-escalation
- Proactive, reliable, and committed to a long-term role
