Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant (Level 3 or Unqualified) - Specialist SEN School
Location: East Grinstead, West Sussex (Driver required due to location)
Salary: £21,500 - £26,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm (36.25 hours per week)
Working Weeks: 36 weeks per year (term time only with extended school holidays)
Contract: 12 weeks Temp-to-Perm
Start Date: ASAP or September 2026
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or Psychology graduate looking to build a long-term career in SEN education?
NextGen Teachers are recruiting Teaching Assistants (Level 3 qualified or unqualified) to join a well-established specialist school in East Grinstead. The school supports pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN / SEND) and offers a highly supportive environment, small class sizes, and excellent progression opportunities.
Multiple positions are available, including immediate start roles and longer-term permanent opportunities.
The Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils primarily in Key Stage 3 and 4, with some involvement in primary classes. You will work closely with teachers and subject leads to support learning across a range of subjects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils in the classroom across multiple subjects
- Providing 1:1 and small group support where required
- Assisting students with SEN / SEND, including Autism and additional needs
- Supporting behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Working collaboratively with teachers and specialist staff
- Adapting support based on individual learning needs
You may also have the opportunity to support within subject areas of interest such as:
- Maths
- English
- Art
- Music
- Cookery
The Ideal Candidate

You will be:
- Experienced in working with children or young people with SEN / SEND, or have a strong understanding of additional needs
- A Psychology graduate or from a care/support background (desirable)
- Patient, proactive, and adaptable
