SEND Teaching Assistant - PMLD / SLD | Croydon | Full-Time | Immediate Start

Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or support worker passionate about helping children with complex needs? We are currently recruiting for a PMLD / SLD Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and well-resourced specialist SEN school in Croydon.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) while working alongside a skilled and supportive SEN team.

Job Details

• Role: SEND Teaching Assistant (PMLD / SLD)
• Location: Croydon, South London
• Start Date: ASAP
• Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm , Term Time Only
• Contract: Ongoing / Long-term supply
• Salary: £90 - £110 per day (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex needs
• Assist with sensory learning activities and engagement strategies
• Support non-verbal communication, including PECS, symbols, and assistive technology
• Deliver personal care and mobility support (full training provided)
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and SEN professionals
• Observe and respond to pupils' individual communication styles and cues

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with PMLD, SLD, autism, or complex needs (education, care, or residential settings)
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to support with personal care and manual handling
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
