Location: Leeds

Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Term-Time

NextGen are recruiting for a Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive mainstream secondary school in Leeds, working as part of the school's Inclusion and Pastoral Team.

The school is committed to providing a positive, inclusive environment where every student is supported to achieve their potential. The successful candidate will work closely with pastoral staff, teachers and the wider support team to help students overcome barriers to learning, improve engagement and develop positive relationships.

The Role

  • Work as part of the Inclusion and Pastoral Team to support students across the school.
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students who require additional help.
  • Support students with their learning, attendance, engagement and wellbeing.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Help students manage behaviour, emotions and social challenges.
  • Support students who may be experiencing difficulties both inside and outside of school.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to implement individual support strategies.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, independence and resilience.
  • Monitor student progress and wellbeing, reporting any concerns appropriately.
  • Support students who may be at risk of disengagement or struggling to access mainstream education.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and promote student welfare at all times.

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students is desirable..
  • Calm, patient and approachable manner.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Confident supporting behaviour, emotional wellbeing and challenging situations.
  • Able to build positive relationships with students from a range of backgrounds.
  • Reliable, adaptable and a strong team player.
  • Passionate about supporting young people and removing barriers to learning.
  • Committed to safeguarding, inclusion and student wellbeing.
