Location: Leeds
Contract: Permanent - Full Time
Start Date: April 2026 (or before for the right candidate)
Salary: £32,000 - £51,000 per annum (MPS - UPS plus SEN allowance)
Are you a passionate and dedicated SEN teacher looking to make a meaningful impact? NextGen Teachers are working in partnership with a specialist provision in Leeds that supports pupils with complex and profound additional needs. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly supportive and well-established team that places pupil wellbeing, dignity, and individual progress at the heart of its ethos.
The school provides a bespoke curriculum tailored to meet the individual needs of each learner, with a strong focus on communication, sensory development, and independence. Teaching approaches vary depending on pupils' needs and may include structured routines, therapeutic interventions, and sensory-based learning experiences.
Pupils within the provision present with a range of complex needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), epilepsy, multisensory impairments, and physical disabilities. As such, the role requires a high level of care, empathy, and commitment to holistic education.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver personalised learning programmes in line with pupils' EHCP targets
Create a calm, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment where all pupils feel safe and valued
Monitor and record pupil progress using observations, photographs, and electronic assessment systems
Communicate effectively with parents/carers, colleagues, and external professionals
Contribute to a multidisciplinary approach to learning and wellbeing
Take part in enrichment and wider school activities to support pupils' personal development
Provide personal care where required
Support pupils with physical needs, including mobility, positioning, and movement throughout the day
Support pupils' emotional development, helping them to develop self-regulation and positive behaviours
Deliver sensory support strategies, including sensory circuits and targeted interventions
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience working with children or young people with complex SEN needs
Experience providing personal care
A calm, caring, and patient approach to teaching and learning
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
Team Teach training (or willingness to complete training)
A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
