NextGen Teachers are proud to be working in partnership with a number of specialist SEN schools across Leeds and Bradford to recruit dedicated SEN Complex Needs Support Assistants for full-time, permanent positions, starting as soon as possible.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with complex learning, physical, and communication needs, and who are looking for a long-term career within specialist education.

About the Role

As an SEN Complex Needs Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with complex needs, including ASD, PMLD, SLD, SEMH, and physical disabilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support within a specialist SEN setting

  • Assist pupils with personal care, mobility, and medical needs (training provided)

  • Support communication through PECS, Makaton, and assistive technologies

  • Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals

  • Promote independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with complex SEN needs (education, care, or support setting)

  • Be patient, resilient, and compassionate

  • Be confident supporting pupils with personal care requirements

  • Have a genuine passion for SEN and inclusive education

  • Be reliable, committed, and looking for a permanent role

  • SEN qualifications or Team Teach training are desirable but not essential
