NextGen Teachers are proud to be working in partnership with an outstanding SEN School in Leeds to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, permanent position, starting as soon as possible.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and inclusive school community, working closely with pupils who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping students access learning, develop independence, and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of SEN needs (including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties)
Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
Assist the class teacher in adapting learning activities and resources
Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
Support pupils both in and out of the classroom, including during break times where required
The Ideal Candidate
Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based experience desirable)
Is patient, empathetic, and resilient
Has a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
Is reliable, proactive, and committed to long-term progression within a school
