Senior Family Support Worker

Location: Leeds, LS9

Contract: Permanent

Start date: ASAP

Salary: £37,280- £39,153

We are seeking an experienced Family Support professional to lead a small team of two Family Support Workers and provide high-quality supervision, guidance, and specialist advice within a multidisciplinary setting.

The role involves working closely with children, families, and partner agencies to support families identified as requiring targeted family support, including those working alongside Children's Social Care. You will engage with children and families experiencing complex circumstances, carrying out comprehensive assessments and coordinated planning in partnership with families to promote positive and sustainable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the Family Support team, overseeing caseloads and quality of practice

  • Support the DSL/DHT with line management, performance management, and quality assurance

  • Ensure statutory safeguarding and Early Help duties are met to a high standard and within timescales

  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, responding to concerns and maintaining accurate records

  • Provide expert safeguarding advice, guidance, and challenge to staff and partner agencies

  • Complete safeguarding audits and contribute to the school's safeguarding strategy

  • Coordinate operational safeguarding responses and multi-agency working

  • Carry out holistic, strengths-based assessments and develop effective support plans

  • Case-hold and coordinate support for children and families with complex needs

  • Attend and contribute to Child Protection, Child in Need, Early Help, and multi-agency meetings

  • Write high-quality reports and maintain accurate, up-to-date electronic records

  • Work collaboratively with pastoral leads to improve attendance, behaviour, inclusion, and SEND outcomes

  • Deliver whole-family interventions using evidence-based approaches

  • Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and the wider community

  • Lead timely advice, referrals, and duty processes to ensure the right support at the right level

Requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English
  • NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead trained
  • Full UK Drivers License with access to own car
  • Experience leading / managing others
  • Recent, relevant experience of case work with children, young people and families with complex and multiple needs
  • Experience of working in a school environment with children and young people with SEND
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Good understanding of child development and the impact of trauma
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
