SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Leeds
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Supply with potential for Temp to Perm - Supply roles also available across Leeds
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Term-Time
Supply Pay: £90 - £95 per day
Temp to Perm Salary: £19,500 - £21,000 per annum, depending on experience

Are you a caring, patient and resilient Teaching Assistant looking to build your experience within a specialist SEND setting?

NextGen Teachers are recruiting for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work at a lovely and welcoming school in Leeds, supporting pupils with a wide range of complex learning and additional needs.

This school is a specialist 3-19 setting supporting pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties, complex medical needs, physical difficulties, Down's Syndrome, hearing and visual impairments and Autism. The school follows a personalised approach, with each learner's EHCP at the heart of their education.

The Role

You will:

• Support pupils with complex SEND and additional needs
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support within the classroom
• Help pupils access a personalised and engaging curriculum
• Support communication, learning and the development of independence
• Encourage pupils to build confidence, resilience and life skills
• Support pupils with sensory, physical and emotional needs

This school works alongside specialist professionals including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Educational Psychologists and nursing staff, giving Teaching Assistants the opportunity to develop valuable experience within a genuinely specialist environment.

We're looking for someone who is:

• Patient, compassionate and resilient
• Comfortable supporting pupils with complex additional needs
• Calm and consistent when responding to challenging or distressed behaviour
• Confident building positive relationships with children and young people
• A reliable team player who is willing to learn
• Passionate about helping pupils develop their communication, independence and confidence
• Ideally experienced within SEND, care, support work, education or similar environments
