• £90-£95 per day on supply
• £19,500-£21,000 per annum once permanent, depending on experience

NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for a caring and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Leeds on a temporary-to-permanent basis.

The school supports pupils aged 8-17 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties, complex communication and language needs and associated SEMH needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping young people develop their confidence, independence, communication and engagement with learning.

The Role:

• Supporting pupils with Autism, complex communication needs and severe learning difficulties
• Helping pupils engage with learning through a calm, structured and nurturing approach
• Supporting communication, emotional regulation, independence and social development
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team
• Following individual learning plans and EHCP targets
• Supporting pupils with their daily routines and, where required, personal care
• Managing challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent and positive way
• Building trusting relationships with pupils and encouraging their confidence and independence
• Starting ASAP, initially on a supply basis with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate

About You:

We're looking for someone who is patient, compassionate and confident when working with young people with additional needs.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience working with SEN/SEND, particularly Autism or complex needs
• Confidence supporting pupils who may display challenging or distressed behaviours
• A calm, patient and consistent approach
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their potential
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Minimum Grade 4/C in English and Maths GCSE or equivalent
