SEN Teaching Assistant
SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Kirklees
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Temp-to-Perm
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Term-Time
Salary: £90 - £95 per day
NextGen are recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and friendly specialist school in Huddersfield.
The school supports pupils aged 5-18 with Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It provides a welcoming, nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils are supported to feel safe, valued and confident.
The school has a strong focus on positive relationships, emotional wellbeing, independence, learning and personal development, helping every pupil reach their potential.
The Role
- Support pupils aged 5-18 with Autism and SEMH needs.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Support emotional regulation, communication and engagement.
- Promote positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
- Help pupils access learning and participate positively in school life.
- Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team.
Who We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with Autism and/or SEMH is desirable.
- Experience supporting pupils aged 5-18 is advantageous.
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Reliable, adaptable and a strong team player.
- Passionate about supporting children and young people.
- Committed to inclusion, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
