NextGen Teachers are actively recruiting for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-established specialist SEN school in Wakefield (Pontefract area). This is a permanent opportunity within a supportive and highly experienced team, working with secondary-aged pupils (11-18 years).

About the Role:
In this role, you will support pupils aged 11-18 with:
Autism (ASC)
Communication and Interaction Needs
Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
Complex learning needs
This is a hands-on role within a specialist provision.
Candidates must be confident supporting personal care and manual handling.
You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve their EHCP outcomes within a structured and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small group SEN support across KS3 and KS4
Support pupils with PMLD and complex needs
Assist with personal care routines (where required)
Support teachers in delivering personalised and differentiated learning
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
Create a safe, engaging and inclusive classroom environment
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
What We're Looking For:
Previous experience working in an SEN school or specialist setting (desirable)
Experience supporting Autism or PMLD (highly desirable)
A calm, patient and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for inclusive education
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential)
A strong understanding of safeguarding
