SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Leeds

Start Date: Immediate Start

Contract: Supply and then temp to perm

Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm - Term-Time

Salary: £90 - £95 per day

NextGen are recruiting for an SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming SEND school in Leeds with an ASAP start. The school looks after children aged 8 - 17 catering to pupils with a range of identified SEND needs including autistic spectrum condition, severe learning difficulties, specific communication and language difficulties and associated social, emotional and mental health needs. The school has a range of resources and support in place to effectively accommodate and manage challenging behaviours.

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils aged 8-17 with learning, engagement and development
  • Working closely with the class teacher and the wider SEN team to create an inclusive and collaborative environment
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and nurturing environment that supports learning and wellbeing
  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and welfare of all pupils
  • Monitor learner progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate any concerns to teaching staff and senior leaders

Who We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with individuals with additional needs is essential
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Calm, patient and positive approach
  • Team player, willing to learn and support staff
  • Committed to safeguarding and pupil welfare
  • Focused on inclusion, progress and development
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, anxiety or communication needs is desirable but not essential
