SEN Teacher
SEN Class Teacher - Informal learners
Location: Leeds SEN school
Contract: Full-time (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm)
Start Date: September 2-26
Salary: MPS-UPS + SEN Allowance
NextGen Teachers are working in partnership with a large SEN school based in Leeds who are seeking to recruit an experienced full-time SEN Teacher for a permanent position in the new academic year from September 2026.
This role will be to teach in the Informal Pathway with learners from 4-16 years with various needs Including: ASD, ADHD, GDD, SLCN and Complex needs. Most children in this pathway are Pre-verbal / Non-verbal with significant communication needs.
Teachers applying must have a wealth of Informal SEN teaching experience and Qualified Teaching Status.
The Role
- Plan and deliver personalised learning programmes in line with EHCP targets
- Create calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environments
- Use a range of communication and sensory approaches to engage learners
- Track and record progress through observations, assessments, and communication with families
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and external professionals
- Support pupils with personal care where required
- Assist with positioning and mobility to support physical development needs
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Deliver sensory-based interventions such as sensory circuits
- Contribute to wider school life and enrichment opportunities
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teahcing in a specialist environment for a minimum of 2 years
- Confidence supporting personal care needs
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Team Teach training (or willingness to complete it)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
