We are working in partnership with a specialist setting in Leeds to recruit a passionate and experienced SEMH Teacher with a specialism in Art. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a nurturing environment, supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

The school provides a supportive and structured setting for learners who may have experienced barriers to education. Creativity plays a key role in engagement, and art is used as a powerful tool to support self-expression, emotional regulation, and re-engagement with learning.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons with a strong focus on Art
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs through structured, consistent, and therapeutic approaches
  • Use art and creative activities to promote emotional expression and wellbeing
  • Build strong, positive relationships to support behaviour and engagement
  • Differentiate learning to meet a wide range of needs and abilities
  • Monitor and track pupil progress, celebrating small steps and achievements
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, senior leaders, and external professionals
  • Contribute to a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs or within alternative provisions
  • A strong background or specialism in Art or creative subjects (taught at GCSE Level)
  • Confidence in managing behaviour and supporting emotional regulation
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils to re-engage with education
