NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for enthusiastic, reliable and experienced Secondary Teaching Assistants to join our supply team and work across secondary schools in Leeds and the surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Behaviour Support Workers and Youth Workers who are looking for flexible supply work while gaining valuable experience across a range of secondary school settings.
We are particularly interested in candidates with strong behaviour management skills and experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
The Role
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will provide support to pupils and teaching staff across a range of secondary schools. Assignments can vary from day-to-day supply to longer-term placements, depending on your availability and the needs of our schools.
Your responsibilities may include:
Supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 with their learning and development
Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN
Supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional and social needs
Using effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm and productive learning environment
Building positive and professional relationships with students
Supporting teachers with classroom activities and pupil engagement
Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence and independence
Supporting pupils who may require additional guidance, structure or encouragement
Working alongside teaching, pastoral and SEN staff
Adapting quickly to different school environments, routines and expectations
Following school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times
About You
We are looking for confident, adaptable and resilient individuals who can quickly establish positive relationships with pupils and staff.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Support Worker, Youth Worker or in a similar role
Experience working with secondary-aged pupils
Strong behaviour management skills and the confidence to manage challenging situations calmly and consistently
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN
A good understanding of how additional needs can affect behaviour and learning
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The ability to adapt quickly to new schools and environments
A reliable and professional approach
A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to complete one)
- Hold the Right to Work in the UK
